Motorhomes are in vogue, so of course there is a need to improve the sound. Emphaser presents the EM-FTF2, a new speaker set for Fiat Ducato.
The Fiat Ducato is still the most common base on the used motorhome market. The desire to improve the sound quality is prevalent everywhere, because who wants to go on vacation with bad sound? The quickest and easiest method is to replace the speakers - especially with the Emphaser EM-FTF2, as it is connected via plug & play. Simply unplug the original vehicle speakers and plug in the Emphaser - done. It also goes without saying with a vehicle kit that the speakers fit exactly. "Thanks" to the exposed mounting of the woofers on the door panel and the three-point mounting, normal composite systems do not fit easily.

The low-pass crossover is conveniently located directly on the woofer; a blocking circuit responds to the vehicle acoustics.
That's why Emphaser has given the FTF2 an injection-molded basket specially designed for the Ducato. This works in all Ducato III models from 2006 onwards and also in the identical Jumper and Boxer models from France. Emphaser has gone to great lengths to make the tweeter as compact as possible so that it fits easily into the original space. A small 19-millimeter fabric dome tweeter is used for this purpose, and thanks to the coupling volume, which gives it a boost at the lower transmission end, it is more than a match for a 25-millimeter dome tweeter.

Measurements and sound
The crossover of the EM-FTF2 is split for the two drivers. The tweeter branch is located in the connection cable of the tweeter, while the woofer branch is cleverly located in the basket of the 16er. Here we find a clever circuit with a 12 dB low-pass filter, which, however, has a damped bypass for higher frequencies. In addition, there is a blocking circuit that works like a passive equalizer and pulls the frequency response of the bass-midrange driver down by approx. 6 dB around 1 kHz. At first glance, this looks strange in our measurements, but it makes sense. The EM-FTF2 has been developed specifically for the Ducato and can therefore afford to take the vehicle's frequency response into account. The blocking circuit compensates for a frequency hump in the Ducato's acoustics so that the frequency response in the car is smooth. For our sound check in the listening room, we bypassed this blocking circuit. The EM-FTF2 then plays lively and rich in detail. The aluminum 16-woofer delivers a crisp punch in the bass and the mid-range also succeeds with the necessary edges and corners. The new 19 mm tweeter is a stunner, it delivers beautifully silky details, but can also produce acoustic sparks when required. Added to this is a spatiality that makes you happy, so everything is perfect.

Conclusion
With the EM-FTF2, Emphaser delivers a highly worthwhile loudspeaker system for Ducato & Co. that impresses with both plug & play installation and crisp sound.
