The 16.5 cm/6.5" 2-way Compo ECP-M6 Edition 2 is the worthy successor to the legendary ECP-M6 from the MONOLITH series and comes with important technological highlights: the new M25TX tweeter with 25 mm aluminum cone plays precisely and with great attention to detail up to 40 kHz. The woofer has a new aluminum-paper sandwich cone and comes in the new EMPHASER FlowMax basket design. Everything is possible with the ECP-M6 Edition 2: listening to music details at low volumes and brute level attacks for a big grin.

The woofer

The new aluminum-paper compound cone is responsible for the high precision and natural sound of the ECP-M6 Edition 2. It combines high damping and rigidity as well as a direct step response known for hard cones for extremely detailed music reproduction. The cone thickness has been selected to provide the stability for heavy bass attacks and the necessary lightness for high-resolution and natural-sounding mids. The durable butyl surround in M-design ensures that the ECP-M6 Edition 2 loses none of its precise reproduction even at high levels and therefore high cone excursions.

The Compo owes its clean, crisp bass foundation and enormous level capabilities to the powerful 100 x 15 mm strontium ferrite magnet, the heavy-duty 30 mm voice coil and the 6 mm thick, face-milled pole plate of the woofer. The carefully selected components are supported by the minimalistically designed EMPHASER FlowMax die-cast aluminum basket. The very open construction with the filigree struts gives the sound emitted from the rear maximum freedom and ensures a minimum of unwanted reflective surfaces that could influence the sound. Despite the filigree design, the sophisticated basket construction offers enormous stability. Another innovation is the EMPHASER screw terminal: although very solid, it takes up very little space and ensures reliable signal transmission thanks to the force-fit connection with solid hexagon screws and gold-plated contact surfaces.

The tweeter

The new ECP-M25TX tweeter with 25 mm aluminum cone plays precisely and with great attention to detail up to 40 kHz. The dome geometry offers a uniform directional characteristic for outstanding sound in a wide variety of installation situations. In addition to the low weight of the cone, surround and voice coil, the deliberate avoidance of the use of ferrofluid is the main reason why the tweeter plays very vividly, spatially and without coloration. The protective grille with its very large opening area offers high sound permeability and low reflective surfaces. The supplied surface-mounted housing enables installation at two different dispersion angles for perfect adaptation to the vehicle acoustics.

The crossover

For increased ease of installation, the crossovers have been divided into separate housings for the tweeter and woofer. This allows easy installation at the original installation location without the need to lay new cables across the vehicle. The crossover components have a high quality in order to influence the music signal as little as possible. In particular, only air coils, film capacitors and MOX resistors are used in the direct signal path. The high-frequency level is adjusted in two stages using a massive jumper.
