Due to the camper boom, there is a parallel increased demand in the aftermarket for good sound for the camper. Here comes a speaker set for the Ford Transit.
Emphaser already has a whole range of speaker systems for motorhomes. The first base vehicle was of course the Fiat Ducato, still the most popular vehicle on the used market. Also the VW bus T5 and T6 is covered, beyond that the Mercedes Sprinter is supplied. That applies naturally in each case to construction-same vehicles of other marks, and also Nicht-Wohnmobile can come possibly into the benefit of the sound Nachrüstung. The next candidate is now the Ford Transit, more precisely the models Transit Custom 7th generation and Tourneo Custom 2nd generation. Here, the new EM-FDF1 front system fits in the front doors. As always with vehicle-specific speakers, Emphaser equips the set with vehicle plugs, so that the installation is really plug&play.
The woofer for the door has a nominal diameter of 16.5 centimeters, so it makes enough bass for everyday life even without a subwoofer. Its plastic basket naturally fits exactly in the place of the original. The crossover of the two-way system is divided into the two branches, so we find the woofer branch directly at the basket of the woofer.

We already know the tricky circuit from Emphaser, the developer uses here the possibility to include not only the separation by low-pass, but also an equalizer tuned to the vehicle acoustics. The tweeter also fits in place of the original and is only clipped in. Its crossover is integrated into the connecting cable and separates the tweeter with a 12 dB high pass. Emphaser earns our praise for the workmanship, both drivers are cleanly manufactured, the woofer with turned pole plates, perforated coil carrier and stable aluminum diaphragm even made quite noble.
Measurements and sound
As in past Emphaser tests, the Ford speakers also show clean development. The comparison of the woofer with and without crossover shows that the crossover intervenes in two places, namely at the upper end of the transmission and in the range around 1 kHz. The result is anything but a linear smooth frequency response, but installed in the Transit door it fits. The tweeter is suitably separated around 4 kHz and everything is in the green zone in the distortion measurements. Sonically, the system leaves nothing to be desired, it's lively with a fresh, lively sound. There's plenty of detail in the treble and the aluminum woofer delivers clean bass that's really fun to listen to. In general, the FDF1 is always good for a lively attack, it plays nicely dynamic and thus sets itself apart from the original sound.

Conclusion
With the EM-FDF1, Emphaser offers a successful retrofit solution for Transit and Tourneo. The system offers exactly what is expected of it: It fits effortlessly into the vehicle and it improves the sound enormously.
